Apogee
The point in its orbit where the Moon is farthest from the Earth. The Moon’s apogee-perigee cycle is called the Anomalistic month and averages 27.55455 days (27d 13h 18m 33s). The lunar apogee stimulates flowering and fruiting. When the Moon is near apogee it is also a good time to harvest food for winter storage as there is less moisture in the plant.
Constellation / Sign
Eden’s Almanac does not make a big deal over the distinction between of constellation and sign because the calendar uses the zodiac boundaries that you configure in the settings. Those boundaries represent either the the 30° divisions used by the sidereal zodiac (signs) or the unqeual divisions that represent the constellations.
Ecliptic
The great circle that is the apparent path of the Sun among the constellations. The constellations of the zodiac are arranged along the ecliptic plane.
Perigee
The point in its orbit where the Moon is nearest to the Earth. The closest perigee of the year is called proxigee and is associated with floods and more extreme weather conditions. When perigee occurs near the Full Moon, the Moon appears extra large in the sky and is called a Supermoon. When perigee occurs near the New Moon, we get King tides.
Sowing
The moment a seed in placed into moist soil. This is moment germination begins.
Transplanting
Moving a plant from one container or place in the ground and placing it into another container or place in the ground.
Transplanting Time
Transplanting time is the ideal time to move your plants from starter trays or pots into larger pots or into the ground. This window occurs when the Moon is descending in the sky and the energy in the plant is moving from the aerial parts into the roots. Transplanting your plants during these windows takes advantage of the increased energy in the root zone and leads to better root establishment and greater transplanting success.
